Let's Hit the Road

There's no surprise that we LOVE transporting tiny homes! We have moved hundreds of them from builders, contractors, and tiny house enthusiasts/communities. Every tiny home is unique, and stands out in it's own way. Have you ever thought about converting to a tiny house lifestyle? Is it for you? With today's cost of living this may be for YOU..  Mortgage rates are steadily increasing due to home values, there are constant inconsistencies in today's economy, and rent is currently so high that multiple families are sharing single family homes. That is why millions of people around the globe have made the choice to downsize. If you have ever thought about transitioning into a tiny home, we always recommend staying in one first! Jump on AirBnB and there are tons available for nightly rentals in all different states! Staying in a tiny home before actually making the purchase will help you decide on what is a necessity, and what you can do with out. Once you have made the ultimate decision that it is in fact right for you, the fun begins!

Scheduling

Back in early January we were contacted by an executive at a large corporation who's employee needed her tiny home transported. She didn't need it moved a few miles, or across the state.. The unit needed to travel across the country from Indiana to California. She explained to us that she had contacted multiple transport companies who said that they transport tiny homes, but unfortunately they were unable to answer her into depth questions about the move. We assured her she had contacted the right company and that we'd make it happen! We went back and forth for a few weeks conversating and answering all questions from the employer & tiny home owner. When it comes to your home, asking all of the right questions is very important. Below is a list of questions you should ask when deciding who is transporting your tiny home.

  • Do you specialize in tiny house transport?
  • Are you fully licensed, insured, and bonded?
  • Can you send me proof of insurance?
  • What type of vehicle will tow my tiny home?
  • Do I have to empty my tiny home before transport?
  • Does my tiny home need to be registered?
This list can go on, and on.. Your transport company should be able to answer all of these questions along with showing full documentation for requested paperwork. When choosing One Call Logistics, we will go over any and all questions/concerns you may have. We will also send you over a full checklist to help you prep your tiny house for the road. This checklist is extremely helpful and almost all of our clients say it has helped them prep/move things that they would have never thought of.. That is why choosing your tiny house transport company should be easy! Choose the pro's at One Call.

On the Road Again

It was a snowy cold 13° in Indiana when Chris, one of our highly experienced tiny home transport specialists arrived to pick up the tiny home. He arrived on time and met our clients on site. It was very wet due to heavy snow from the previous day, now melting.. We can manage just about anything put in front of us. He got all loaded up, did a safety inspection, and hit the road. We had already planned a route ahead of time.. This is very important when inclement weather may be involved along the way.. Which it was. We made the decision to travel south before heading west with the tiny home. I-80 at this time was actually shut down in numerous locations due to icy road conditions, heavy winds, and accidents. Planning your route can be crucial, especially during the winter months. Put your trust in the One Call Logistics Team as we use advanced technology and trucking software/systems for designating a safe route. Although going the Southern route added additional mileage and time, it was the safest choice for both our driver, and our customers home. The roads still had ice on them, but overall they were much better than the route originally discussed. Chris travelled across the country making his way through each state. Slowly, and steadily he was able to get through it and arrive in San Lorenzo, CA. Luckily, upon arrival the weather was MUCH better.. Although, we were still in for a challenge....The delivery location was a super tight fit.. After careful observation we made the decision to have a skid steer come out and place the tiny home where our client needed it. Locating the right skid steer operator and the right equipment was another tough task involved. After calling 60+ companies we found the right guy.. Rick was outstanding maneuvering the tiny home just perfectly to get around the tight turns and areas needed to put it in place. If you are ever in need of this service, let us know and we'd be more than happy to provide you with his contact details!

Shipping motorsports vehicles, such as motorcycles, ATVs, or jet skis, requires careful planning and consideration due to their size, weight, and sometimes delicate nature. Here are some general steps to consider when shipping motorsports vehicles:

  • Choose a shipping method: Decide whether you want to use a specialized vehicle transport service, a freight carrier, or another method. The choice may depend on factors such as cost, convenience, and the level of service required.

  • Prepare the vehicle: Before shipping, ensure that the motorsports vehicle is properly prepared. This includes cleaning it thoroughly, removing any personal belongings or loose items, and securing any removable parts to prevent damage during transit.

  • Check for regulations and requirements: Research any regulations or requirements related to shipping motorsports vehicles, both domestically and internationally. This may include paperwork, permits, or specific packaging instructions.

  • Choose appropriate packaging: If necessary, package the vehicle securely to prevent damage during transit. This might involve using specialized crates, pallets, or protective coverings.

  • Arrange pickup and delivery: Coordinate with the shipping company to schedule pickup of the vehicle from your location and delivery to the desired destination. Make sure to provide clear instructions and contact information for both pickup and delivery.

  • Insure the shipment: Consider purchasing insurance for the shipment to protect against loss or damage during transit. Most shipping companies offer insurance options, but you may also choose to use a third-party insurer.

  • Track the shipment: Utilize any tracking services provided by the shipping company to monitor the progress of the shipment and ensure it arrives at its destination on time.

  • Receive and inspect the vehicle: When the vehicle arrives at its destination, inspect it carefully for any signs of damage or discrepancies. Note any issues on the delivery receipt and contact the shipping company immediately if necessary.

  • By following these steps and taking appropriate precautions, you can ensure a smooth and secure shipping process for your motorsports vehicles.

Utilizing a drive-away logistics service can offer several benefits, depending on your specific needs and circumstances. Here are some reasons why you might consider using One Call Logistics' drive away service.

Cost Efficiency: Drive-away services can often be more cost-effective than transporting vehicles via traditional methods such as towing or shipping. Since you're essentially hiring someone to drive the vehicle to its destination, you may save on transportation costs.

Time Savings: Drive-away services can often be quicker than other methods of transport, especially if you need to move vehicles over relatively short distances. This can be particularly useful if you need vehicles delivered promptly to meet customer demands or deadlines.

Flexibility: Drive-away services can be more flexible in terms of scheduling and routes compared to other forms of transportation. You can often arrange for pick-up and delivery at times that suit your schedule, and drivers may have the flexibility to adjust routes based on real-time conditions.

Personalized Service: Drive-away services often provide a more personalized experience, as drivers typically work closely with clients to ensure that their specific needs are met. This can include things like handling special requests or providing updates on the status of the delivery.

Comprehensive Solutions: Some drive-away logistics companies offer additional services beyond simply transporting vehicles, such as vehicle inspection, detailing, or even temporary storage. This can provide added convenience and value for businesses with more complex transportation needs.

Safety and Security: Reputable drive-away services with One Call Logistics contract experienced and vetted drivers who are trained to handle various types of vehicles safely and securely. This can give you peace of mind knowing that your vehicles are in good hands during transit.

Overall, utilizing a drive-away logistics service with us can offer a range of benefits, including cost savings, time efficiency, flexibility, and personalized service, making it a viable option for businesses and individuals needing to transport vehicles.
