Who doesn't love boating?

Are you a boat owner? Have you ever thought about purchasing a boat? In our boat hauling mistakes post, we talked about how over 15.8 million recreational boats were reported in use just in 2016 alone. I can only imagine that number has increased over the years—and especially in 2020. Our boat transportation serviceshave doubled—if not tripled—during all of the lockdowns due to covid. It seems as if many Americans went out and purchased new boats, jet skis, and many more fun filled items!

A boat is an expensive investment that can be difficult to transport if the vessel owner does not have the proper equipment to haul it. Having the proper vehicle and equipment can make a tremendous difference when moving a boat. That is why One Call Logistics is here to help in any way possible! Transporting a boat can often be a complicated process if you don't have the right team in your corner, Logistics wise. Choosing a boat moving company can take time. You will want to secure a marina/shipyard that can accommodate your boat. There are numerous questions to ask when determining if they will fit your needs as well as the vessel's needs. Below are just a few important questions that you can ask:

  • Do you provide assembling/disassembling of the vessel?
  • Do you provide transportation preparation services?
  • Do you have the means to shrink wrap our boat?
  • Do you have a forklift, travel lift, or crane to load/unload our boat from trailers and in/out of the water?
  • Are you a full-service marina?

Protecting Your Boat During Transport

A frequent question we get asked is, "How can we protect our vessel?" Most people think putting a cover on their boat will help keep it safe from rocks, road debris, salt, etc. However, the only layer of protection that should be on the boat is shrink wrap (see photo below). Any canvas or covering should be removed before transport. Although not all marinas offer this service, there are mobile shrink-wrapping services available nationwide. If you are unable to locate a company to do this in your area, you can simply have the boat moved to a full-service marina that will.

Overall, choosing a reputable and highly experienced boat transport company can be tough and time consuming. We are here to make that process much easier and we ensure you're in good hands.
