Tiny House Movement: the Benefits of Tiny Homes

The tiny house movement has grown exponentially over the last decade: both by choice and necessity. Home costs are rising considerably, and many people want to avoid exorbitant mortgages. Living in a tiny home allows you to pay less in expenses, lowers your carbon footprint, and gives you the ability to live anywhere you want.

Many people have embraced the simplicity of the tiny house movement. The benefits of tiny homes will impact you financially and mentally—while helping the Earth!

More Savings

Living in a tiny home provides a lower cost of living. A tiny house is only 100 to 400 square feet, while the square footage of a traditional home averages near 2500. Utility costs are drastically lower in tiny homes thanks to less energy usage because of fewer appliances. With such a small space, many small homeowners usually spend more time outdoors, cutting down on electricity.

Lower Carbon Footprint

Another benefit of a small house is that it requires less building material than other houses. Less lumber and resources coupled with the lower energy usage allows tiny homes to use fewer resources and leave less of a carbon footprint. In addition, tiny homes have limited storage, so owners only buy and use what they need. Extraneous items don’t exist in tiny houses; many prefer the simplicity of managing fewer household things.

Less Cleaning

A tiny home requires less cleaning due to its smaller space and the limited amount of clutter. Organization is a critical element of a tiny house, which can be a challenge for some people. Everything needs to have a place, and if it doesn’t, living in such a small space will result in a cluttered space pretty quickly.

Although, living in such a small space means you’d have less waste to manage. For example, a smaller refrigerator requires thoughtful purchasing but also prevents food waste.

Quality of Life

One of the most significant advantages of tiny homes is their mobility. The benefits of tiny houses all lead to an increased quality of life, but the ability to pick up and move to wherever you’d like is a huge draw for most.
